CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

The Moksha Holidays

Effective Date: 1st January 2026
Website: https://themokshaholidays.com

At The Moksha Holidays, we understand that travel plans may change due to personal, medical, or operational reasons. This Cancellation & Refund Policy explains how cancellations, refunds, postponements, and trip adjustments are handled.

Because we operate in Uttarakhand Yatra, pilgrimage, and Himalayan travel sectors, many arrangements are made in advance with hotels, transport providers, local teams, and seasonal operators. Therefore, cancellation charges may apply.

1. Booking Amount / Advance Payment

To confirm a booking, an advance payment is generally required.

Important

Advance / booking amount may be:

  • non-refundable, or
  • partially adjustable

depending on the trip type, service block, booking timeline, and vendor terms.

The exact payment structure may vary by package and departure.

2. Cancellation by the Traveler

If a traveler wishes to cancel a confirmed booking, the cancellation must be communicated to us in writing via:

  • WhatsApp
  • email
  • official booking communication channel

Cancellation charges will be applicable from the date we receive the cancellation request.

3. Standard Cancellation Charges

Unless otherwise stated in writing for a specific package, the following general cancellation policy may apply:

For Land Packages / Standard Yatra Tours

  • 30 days or more before departure: booking amount / service charges may be deducted
  • 15 to 29 days before departure: up to 25% of total package cost may be deducted
  • 7 to 14 days before departure: up to 50% of total package cost may be deducted
  • 3 to 6 days before departure: up to 75% of total package cost may be deducted
  • 0 to 2 days before departure / No Show: up to 100% of total package cost may be charged

Important

The final refund amount depends on:

  • hotel cancellation terms
  • transport blocking charges
  • local vendor commitments
  • trip type
  • seasonality
  • actual non-recoverable expenses already incurred

4. Non-Refundable Components

The following may be fully or partially non-refundable, depending on supplier / operator rules:

  • booking / registration fees
  • permit charges
  • service charges
  • transport blocking charges
  • hotel retention charges
  • last-minute room bookings
  • peak-season reservations
  • local support arrangements
  • special darshan / special access bookings
  • any prepaid vendor commitments

Important

Certain high-demand pilgrimage dates and long weekends may carry stricter cancellation rules.

5. Helicopter Bookings (If Applicable)

Helicopter bookings are governed by the terms of the respective authorized operator / official booking system.

Important

Refunds for helicopter tickets are subject to:

  • operator cancellation rules
  • weather conditions
  • aviation regulations
  • refund processing by the official operator

The Moksha Holidays does not control helicopter refund timelines, cancellation approvals, or operator decisions unless otherwise stated.

If booking assistance is provided by us, any refund will depend entirely on the applicable helicopter provider policy.

6. Cancellation Due to Weather / Natural Conditions

Travel in Uttarakhand and Himalayan pilgrimage sectors is highly weather-dependent.

Trips may be delayed, altered, interrupted, or affected due to:

  • heavy rain
  • snowfall
  • landslides
  • road blockages
  • route closure
  • temple closure
  • unsafe travel conditions
  • natural disruptions

Important

Such situations are considered beyond our control and may not qualify for a full refund.

In such cases, the following may be offered depending on practical feasibility:

  • itinerary adjustment
  • alternate route planning
  • date adjustment
  • partial credit / adjustment
  • partial refund subject to recoverable vendor components

Refunds, if any, will depend on what costs are actually recoverable from hotels, transport, and local vendors.

7. Trip Postponement / Date Change

In some cases, travelers may request a date change instead of cancellation.

Date changes may be considered based on:

  • availability
  • season
  • route access
  • hotel / transport feasibility
  • vendor policies
  • package type

Important

A date change is not guaranteed and may involve:

  • fare difference
  • revised package cost
  • seasonal rate increase
  • rebooking charges
  • vendor retention adjustments

8. Cancellation by The Moksha Holidays

In rare cases, The Moksha Holidays may need to cancel or significantly alter a trip due to:

  • severe weather
  • route closure
  • operational impossibility
  • safety concerns
  • government restrictions
  • force majeure events
  • insufficient operational feasibility

In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to offer one of the following, depending on the situation:

  • alternate travel arrangement
  • revised departure option
  • rescheduling
  • partial or full adjustment based on recoverable services

Important

Refunds will not automatically include compensation for:

  • personal expenses
  • independently booked flights / trains
  • shopping
  • emotional inconvenience
  • third-party losses not booked through us

9. No Show Policy

If a traveler fails to join the trip, misses pickup, arrives late, or does not report on time without prior coordination, it will be treated as a No Show.

In such cases:

  • no refund may be applicable
  • missed services may not be compensated
  • rejoining the itinerary later may involve extra charges

10. Unused Services

No refund will normally be provided for unused services once the trip has started, including but not limited to:

  • hotel nights
  • meals
  • transport segments
  • sightseeing
  • trek support
  • darshan coordination
  • pickup / drop services

This applies even if the traveler voluntarily skips any part of the trip.

11. Medical Withdrawal / Personal Reasons

If a traveler cancels or discontinues a trip due to:

  • illness
  • injury
  • fatigue
  • altitude discomfort
  • family emergency
  • personal decision
  • lack of preparedness

refunds, if any, will be subject to actual recoverable costs only.

Important

We strongly recommend that travelers consider appropriate travel insurance if they want additional protection for such situations.

12. Refund Processing Time

Approved refunds, where applicable, are generally processed within a reasonable time after:

  • cancellation review
  • supplier confirmation
  • reconciliation of recoverable costs

Important

Refund processing may take longer where third-party vendors, hotels, transport operators, or helicopter providers are involved.

13. Mode of Refund

Refunds, if approved, will generally be processed through the same mode of payment or through an officially agreed payment method.

Refunds will be issued only to the original payer or authorized booking contact, unless otherwise verified.

14. Force Majeure

No guaranteed refund shall arise in situations beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • natural disasters
  • landslides
  • flood
  • earthquake
  • fire
  • snowfall
  • storm
  • epidemic / pandemic
  • government restrictions
  • war-like situations
  • route shutdown
  • temple closure
  • civil or political disruption

In such cases, actual refund eligibility depends entirely on what costs remain recoverable.

15. Important Guest Advisory

Before booking any Uttarakhand Yatra or Himalayan trip, all travelers are strongly advised to understand that:

  • mountain travel is dynamic
  • weather changes rapidly
  • roads may close without notice
  • temple schedules may shift
  • helicopter services may be delayed or cancelled
  • operational flexibility is often necessary

Travelers should book only if they are comfortable with these practical realities.
